SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Franconia, NH.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Franconia are programs which are officially permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
