Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health care for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For people who do have Medicare and need addiction treatment in Atlantic City, this program will pay for certain recovery programs and treatment services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different kinds of care.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient substance treatment, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers a total of 190 days of inpatient care, as in during the person's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B covers up to 80% of the fees associated with outpatient substance abuse rehab. This includes outpatient care, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as anxiety disorders or depression and medications dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional interventions.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for clients who want supplemental coverage apart from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal and those used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
