SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Fairfield, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Fairfield are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
