The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Glen Rock are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.
An opioid rehab program can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
