SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Lakehurst, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Lakehurst are programs that are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
