SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Mount Ephraim, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Mount Ephraim are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
