SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Richwood, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Richwood are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification it has been granted.
