SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Runnemede, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Runnemede are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
