SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Totowa, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Totowa are programs who are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
