Inpatient drug rehab, also sometimes called residential drug rehab, is a treatment method for individuals that need a change of environment and a more aggressive intervention while in treatment. Inpatient treatment in Cuba commonly lasts anywhere from 30 days to 3 - 6 months or longer, and many programs provide both short and long term rehabilitation options. Some inpatient facilities are prepared to offer both non-medical and medically assisted detoxification services, however some only treat clients who have been detoxed at a detoxification center prior to arrival.
Within an inpatient drug rehab, it is much like a small community of clients and staff who are functioning collectively through the course of rehabilitation. Treatment staff do a complete assessment of the client's treatment needs, and a treatment plan is put in place that may include counseling, therapy, holistic treatment, psychotherapy, etc. all depending on what recovery methodology the facility is implementing. Some inpatient facilities concentrate on the 12 steps, while others employ a therapeutic behavioral approach, which would involve more advanced therapies and psychotherapies.
Inpatient drug rehab also eliminates many of the risks associated with relapse, being that the patient is continually supervised in a drug and alcohol free facility, and won't have access to any of the people who influenced, encouraged or approved of their drug abuse.
