The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients.
