SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - La Plata, NM.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in La Plata are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was given.
