Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
