SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Hartford, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Hartford are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was given.
