There is inpatient and outpatient drug rehab, but there are a few sub-categories of outpatient drug rehab in Peru from which to choose. Typical outpatient care is not invasive and clients can usually go to therapy and counseling a few times a week. Intensive outpatient programs offer therapy and counseling similar to regular outpatient, but on a more intensive schedule that also accommodates work and family life.
One outpatient drug treatment type called Day Treatment or Partial Hospitalization is the most intensive form of outpatient treatment available. Individuals can still go home or to a halfway house at the end of each day, but will spend most of the day participating in outpatient rehab services. Day treatment and partial hospitalization outpatient drug and alcohol rehab is ideal for clients who have newly completed an inpatient program, but still need to maintain a strong system of support while becoming more comfortable with sober living. These programs also usually offer a broader spectrum of care that regular outpatient may not offer, including medication management, dual diagnosis treatment, and alternative therapies.
It isn't uncommon for individuals in outpatient alcohol or drug rehab or after rehab in outpatient drug treatment to relapse. In these cases inpatient treatment would ideally be the next step.
