Medicaid is an insurance program for low-income households that because of the Affordable Care Act they are required to cover standard substance abuse rehabilitation services. Medicaid is currently the single largest payer for mental health services in the country, and is beginning to play a considerable role in the reimbursements of substance abuse treatment services.
