The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in West Lebanon are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch.
