Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of treatment.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient substance treatment, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but policy holders will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers a total of 190 days of inpatient care, this applies to the person's lifetime.

It also pays for professional interventions.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for individuals who want additional coverage aside from what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. Individuals who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal and those required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
