When a person in North Canton needs substance abuse treatment but doesn't have health insurance or the funds to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is possibly an option to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which provides the means for qualified people to access treatment programs and services including inpatient programs, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, counseling, continuing care, life coaching and recovery support, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to acquire treatment and recovery support services for addiction disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR individuals must meet certain requirements, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have an annual income that is less than 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
Individuals interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If someone's initial choice of treatment or facility isn't working out, they can work with their ATR coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
