The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals.
