Clients referred from the court for drug or alcohol rehabilitation are typically referred because they are being given a chance to try their hand at rehab rather than face jail time, other charges, fines, etc. While this is more prevalent with first time offenders, it can happen at any time such as while the defendant is being held in jail. There are various types of programs that offenders can be referred to, and it usually all depends on which programs are attainable in Rose and the type of drug or alcohol the person requires treatment for.
There are programs that work directly with the criminal justice court system to administer to this specific type of clientele, and are typically publicly-funded or are offered at no cost or very little cost to the client. Additionally, there are also private drug rehab facilities that may be approved by the court if there is a specific type of treatment that the client needs or wants that a different facility can't provide. The client's attorney can present such alternatives to the judge for acceptance. There are even substance abuse rehab centers that operate out of the jails themselves, where clients are sometimes in a better position for reduced sentences or other benefits when enrolling in drug treatment services while serving their sentence for a drug offense or a DUI/DWI.
