The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in St. Louis are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year.
