Nearly 50% of American Indian and Alaska Native addiction treatment admissions show up to treatment as criminal justice clients, which means they have very likely agreed to a diversion option to receive rehab in lieu of jail times for their charges. So as one can see, there is an absolute need for different types of treatment programs to cover all of the various requirements of this client demographic, including addiction treatment programs in native languages.
One of the challenges that American Indian and Alaska Natives in Velma face is access to comprehensive and effective treatment facilities, especially those who reside in rural regions.
