The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Vici are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.
An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
