SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Bay City, OR.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Bay City are programs which are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab facility can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification it has been given.
