SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Florence, OR.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Florence are programs that are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
