Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Long Creek, OR.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for people in Long Creek who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to dispense specific meds to opioid addicted individuals, many of which are opioids also and are addiction. In low enough doses the individual doesn't feel high and also does not have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication administered for this reason, but there are alternative choices currently to pick from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to administer the med, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be given in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around $300 monthly for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opiates. Someone taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
