The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
