The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
