SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - East Stroudsburg, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in East Stroudsburg are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
