SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Eighty Four, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Eighty Four are programs who are legally permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
