The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
