SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Imperial, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Imperial are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
