SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Lincoln University, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Lincoln University are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
