The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Mckees Rocks are programs who are officially permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements.
