SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Melcroft, PA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Melcroft are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been given.
