Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - North Apollo, PA.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation alternatives for people in North Apollo who are battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are certified to administer specific meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. With low enough doses however, the client does not feel high and also does not experience severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication tried for this sole purpose, but there are alternative options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to administer the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. Someone taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced around $450 per month. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
