SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Covington, TN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Covington are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
