SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Five Points, TN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Five Points are programs which are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification that was given.
