Regular outpatient recovery is usually a less costly choice to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient rehab, and is the least intense of formal alcohol or drug rehabilitation available in Lowland. Some clients are in treatment for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a downgrade from rehab in a more intensive outpatient center such as a partial hospitalization or in-patient center.
Regular out-patient recovery options usually involve individual and group counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Centers which offer a wider array of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. How long someone remains in rehab can vary, and a client's improvement can be judged occasionally and an extension of treatment can be recommended based on these findings.
In many situations, a regular outpatient rehabilitation facility may be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is attempting to address a chronic alcohol and drug problem and has not experienced recovery previously or has fallen off the wagon after prior outpatient treatment.
