SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Sharon, TN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Sharon are programs who are officially allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was granted.
