If a person is receiving outpatient detox they must go to the center assisting them through detoxification daily or at minimum five days per week in most situations. Outpatient detox services are either done in the daytime or evening, which makes it perfect for a person who must keep a regular school or work routine. Certain programs may offer ways to participate in detoxification treatment in a choice of normal outpatient or outpatient day treatment, to improve detox services and help prevent a relapse.
A standard amount of time people participate in outpatient detoxification is about a week. A number of facilities use medically assisted detoxification approaches while others offer medication free detoxification treatement. There are times when medications are needed to prevent deadly withdrawal symptoms, as is the case with alcohol and benzodiazepine medications where seizures are at times an issue. Otherwise, medical staff at the center help clients manage their emotional, psychological, and physical symptoms of cravings and withdrawal until they are safely detoxified and stabilized.
While outpatient detox in Egypt is more adaptable for apparent reasons, a very serious disadvantage is that people are at a greater chance of falling back into addiction due to the access they maintain to drugs and alcohol. Ideally, clients will transition into a log-term or short-term recovery program to deal with the reasons for their addiction once outpatient or inpatient detox is complete.
