Regular outpatient treatment is mostly a less costly choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient rehab, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in Matador. Some clients are in treatment for their first time and have picked regular outpatient because of the cost and commitment to time wise and logistically because of work, school or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient program like a partial hospitalization or in-patient program.
Regular outpatient rehab services involve some kind of individual and group counseling services occurring once maybe twice per week. Programs that include a wider spectrum of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. How long a client stays in treatment can change from client to client, and a client's progress can be evaluated every now and then and more rehab can be recommended based on these evaluations.
In many situations, a regular outpatient treatment program may be deficient in intensity for a client who is attempting to address a chronic drug and alcohol problem and has never experienced treatment previously or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient recovery.
