Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals who do have Medicare and require drug or alcohol rehabilitation in South Bend, this program may pay for certain rehab programs and treatment services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain kinds of medical care.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient addiction treatment, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers 190 days of inpatient care total, as in during the individual's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B covers up to 80% of the costs for outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation. This includes outpatient care, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as anxiety disorders or depression and drugs dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional interventions.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for people who want supplemental health insurance aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. People who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification and medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
