SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Stockdale, TX.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Stockdale are programs that are officially allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
