The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
