DWI Clients - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Appalachia, VA.

DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to fulfill the conditions of their sentencing. Treatment programs that help satisfy these demands and terms, which are usually much more lenient than normal sentencing which would include large fines and jail time, are offered in Appalachia to provide DWI classes, therapy, and further assessment for serious substance abuse issues.

Drug and Alcohol Education is a primary tool used at rehabs treating DWI clients. There are different levels of alcohol education and this can vary by state. Level I education classes generally consist of 12 hours of group education about the effects and dangers of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what someone with a single conviction or someone under 21 will commonly be required to complete. Level II DWI classes would include both education and group therapy at a court approved program. How long a client will need to remain in therapy depends on various considerations, which can include how many DWI's the person has had, and the severity of the violation. In most cases, clients will be required to take the Level II DWI classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content was extremely low when they were stopped and there weren't any other serious charges when the individual was arrested.
