SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Bellingham, WA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Bellingham are programs that are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification that was granted.
