Regular outpatient recovery is mostly a less expensive alternative to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient recovery, and is the least intense of formal drug or alcohol rehabilitation available in Ford. Some people are attending treatment for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from treatment in a more intensive outpatient program such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient program.
Regular outpatient treatment options usually have group and individual counseling services occurring once maybe twice per week. Centers that include a wider range of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help respond to co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. How long a client stays in recovery can change from client to client, and a client's improvement can be assessed from time to time and an extension of rehab can be recommended contingent upon these evaluations.
In some cases, a regular outpatient treatment program is going to be insufficient in intensity for a client who is addressing a severe alcohol and drug problem and has never gone to rehab before or has fallen off the wagon following previous outpatient recovery.
