The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
